  • Battersea Park Lake: Looking for Swift - but not seen just a pr Egyptian Geese, 3 Little Grebe, 6 broods Mallard, lot of Coots starting to hatch out, 12 Grey-lag, 9 Canada Geese, 2 singing Blackcap, Grey Heron's fledging (Michael Mac). Also Grey Wag over NE carrying food (Matt Palmer).
  • Bow Creek and East India Dock Basin area: 3/4 Common Tern inc 1 pair, Shelduck, pair of Sand Martins, M Kestrel hunting over the Ecology Park, imm GBB Gull, 1+ Goldfinch, Greenfinch. (Charlie Farrell)
  • Brent Reservoir: Spring Birdcount, a record 81 species seen including: Shag, 5 Bar-tailed Godwit, Whimbrel, Curlew, Greenshank, 6 Little Ringed Plovers, 4 Lapwings, Dunlin, 2 Common Sandpipers, 3 Green Sandpipers, pair of Peregrines, Hobby (Brent Birders); also Swift, Redwing over the dam a.m. (D.   • Danson Park: 5 Stock Doves with 21 Wood Pigeon, 55 Starlings, 1 or 2 adult and 1 juvenile Great Crested Grebe, 1 Egyptian Goose, 1 Mute Swan, 2 Pied Wagtails, 1 Collared Dove, 2 Chaffinch, 1 Feral Pigeon and the other usuals. (Chris Rose).

  • London Wetland Centre (WWT) , Barnes: Bar-tailed Godwit (full breeding plumage), Greenshank, Green Sandpiper, 4 Ruff, 2 Whimbrel (eventually lured up and away by passing small flock of other Whimbrel), Redshank, Lapwing (breeding), Reed, Sedge, Cettis, Lesser Whitethroat, Blackcap and Chiff Chaff, Yellow Wagtail (Angus Innes).   • Queen Mother Reservoir (permit access): Bar-tailed Godwit west 08:40 (Birdguides).

  • Crayford, Thames Road Wetland: singing male Reed Bunting (site tick), 2 Greylag Geese (site tick) onto 'lake' but left immediatly (pugnacious Coot?), 1 Little Grebe, 1 Coot, 1 Grey Heron, 4 Mallard, several Reed Warblers (heard), 2 or 3 male Whitethroat, 1 Ring-necked Parakeet (over), 1 Collared Dove, Starlings (over) - max 10 at once, Carrion Crows (over) max 10 at once, 1 Magpie, 1 Great Tit.   • Brookmill Park (Lewisham) early morning: 2 Heron, 9 Mallard, 7 Moorhen, 4 Coot, 10 Woodpigeon, 2 Collared Dove, 5 Wren, 4 Dunnock, 4 Robin, 15 Blackbird, 1 Song Thrush, 5 Blackcap, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Long-tailed Tit, 4 Great Tit, 4 Blue Tit, 2 Magpie, 2 Carrion Crow, 2 Goldfinch, 4 Greenfinch. (Conrad Ellam) not really worth getting up at 4.am for. — On the contrary, in my opinion it was well worth getting up for. You had some fresh air and exercise on a beautiful spring morning, and you presumably heard some wonderful birdsong from warblers, thrushes and other parkland species. I returned at the more civilised hour of 10.00 and saw a Goldcrest; not sure if theyr'e nesting within the park or in some nearby conifers, in to which they keep flying.   • Scadbury Park, Chislehurst - female Montague's Harrier present 13.00 - 13.30. Eventually flew off in the broad direction of Ruxley. Great views as it hawked over fields. Caused a huge reaction from resident Ring-necked Parakeet and Jackdaw. (Charlie Carpenter - full details will be sent to the Recorder). Observer has a lot of experience of this species in France. Viewed from as close as 30 metres. This is an underwatched site.

  • Eltham: Kite species NW 15.50 thought to be Red Kite (John Reid).

Sibe Chiff reported as singing by two visiting observers early p.m.; still present 1445 but extremely elusive (MJP). Briefly sang and showed at 13h20 but that was the only sniff since 1215 (James Lowen: thanks, Mark!)

The Redstarts are best looked for in the grassland or along the embankment.
