Hackney, N1: Two Collared Doves in our garden on Northchurch Road, only the second time ever. And even more excitingly yesterday I found what I believe are Woodcock feathers on our lawn, see https://www.flickr.com/photos/ibisbill/17100201455/ Can anyone please confirm these are Woodcock (not e.g. pheasant, seen locally recently, surprisingly enough). I thought Woodcock only come into towns in depths of winter but I may well be wrong.... (Michael Rank). They are indeed Woodcock, likely to be a bird on passage (AS) - I noticed from the photo that the quills are "broken", instead of being plucked, which would imply to me that the culprit was a predacious fox (JR).
