  • Beddington Farmlands: juv Iceland Gull main lake (Twitter), also Brambling, Dartford Warbler and 2 Stonechat (Peter Alfrey, BFBG pics[1]).
  • Beddington Park: 2 Little Egrets, 10+ Goldcrest, 1 Grey Wagtail, 1 Pochard, 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 20+ Wren, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Nuthatch, 3 Mistle Thrush (Arjun Dutta).
  • Bentley Priory: 2f,2m Goosander on Lake, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker calling, Kingfisher, 24 Collared Doves + House Sparrows top end of Masefield Avenue, Common Buzzard. 50 species recorded - highest count in over forty years on this site (Richard Francis).

  • Bushy Park, Teddington: Little Egret flying above Cobbler's Walk heading towards Thames at 09:00 (Mike Foster) Short-eared Owl flushed from bracken flew off towards Richmond - perhaps the same bird seen at Richmond Park and over Kingston (R.Green et al per JW).
  • Clapham Common: Pied Wagtail 1st winter plumage, 6 Common Gull, 45 Greylag Geese (Michael Mac).
  • Crouch End : Short eared Owl high over Broadway at 12.10 mobbed by crows and gulls, lost to view heading west (D.Jordan).
  • East India Dock Basin: 8 Shelduck, Kestrel, Cetti's Warbler (heard), 2 Fieldfare, mixed feeding flock including Chiffchaff, Goldcrest, Long-tailed Tit, Blue Tit and Great Tit, 1/2 Reed Bunting (James Palmer) late afternoon: 8 Tufted, 261 Teal, 1 Kingfisher, female Cetti's Warbler West end of reedbed, Coal Tit (Nick Senior).

  • London Wetland Centre: 1f Goldeneye (reservoir lagoon per S. Fogg), 2m Pintail, 6 Snipe (grazing marsh), 1m1f Stonechat by wader scrape hide, small flock of Siskin (c.40), a few Redpoll and Goldfinch opposite feeders, several Goldcrest (Martin Honey, Angus Innes & B. Page).
  • Merton: 1 Pheasant female reliably reported to me in a residential area just off Merton High Street for 15 minutes at 9.30 am this morning - historically I have bumped into the occasional Pheasant not a million miles away from there e.g. Beddington and Richmond Park but I find this location baffling (Keith Bates).
  • Pinner (HA5): viz-mig (07:15-12:00): 28 Redwing mostly north-west, 9 Fieldfare south-east, 55 Woodpigeon east/south-east, 16 Ring-necked Parakeet north-east, 7 Goldfinch. Also: 3 Jackdaw, Coal Tit & 2 Long-tailed Tit (Jon Ridge).
  • Rainham Marshes RSPB: Dartford Warbler, 9 Curlews, 2 Grey Plovers (Purfleet Scrape), 3 Marsh Harriers (2f,1m) (Ian & Hugh Bradshaw).
  • Richmond Park: Short-eared Owl @ 09.35, 40 Greylag - record flock, 8 House Sparrow - Kingston Gate highest number in Park for 14 years (R.Herbert per JW).
  • Stockers Lake: 24 Red-crested Pochard ( 19 Male, 5 Female) at southern end of the lake (John Edwards and Ruislip & D. NHS).
  • Trent Park: Firecrest male feeding in holly, Rough Lot, 15:12 - 15:17 hrs (Robert Callf).
  • Walthamstow Reservoirs: High Maynard - 3 Common Sandpipers, 2 Goosander; Lockwood; 1 Goosander, 1 Goldeneye; Barnacle Goose on playing fields from No 5; 3 Sparrowhawks (Graham Howie, David Bradshaw).

Yes, they were - apologies I should have specified that. In about 100 casual visits to Richmond Park over 30 years, they may even be the first I've ever seen there even flying over.   • Near Wandsworth Town train station (while passing on train), 9am: Hooded Crow. (observer's name please - this is a very rare bird in London!) (Gareth Simkins @garethsimkins - environmental journalist. Was obviously a fairly brief view, maybe ten seconds, but I would not have put it on here if I was not certain of identification. I have seen hooded crows in the wild before, though not in London!).
  • Brayside Farm, Enfield: 2nd-winter dark-bellied Brent Goose (returning bird from last year) with 18 Canada Geese - viewable from Flash Lane at TQ 319 989 (Robert Callf)

  • Pinner: 8 Collared Doves on lawn, previous highest count only 3! Garden is also home to a psychopathic Robin. Attacks everything, even the odd Starling (Richard Francis).
  • Regent's Park: Firecrest seen briefly in area with no public access (Bill Haines).
  • Ruislip Lido: 29 Little Egret feeding and roosting at the north end of the lake. These are Colne Valley birds venturing further afield but they move back to roost in the Colne Valley in the late afternoon. Previous winter numbers at the Lido have been just over a dozen birds but this winter period has seen a dramatic increase (John Edwards).
