  • Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park: male Firecrest still in Sanctuary Wood 1335 in mixed tit flock with 2+ Goldcrests, Chiffchaff (Bob Watts)
  • Wanstead Flats: Short-eared Owl for about 40 minutes over the SSSI & brooms, being mobbed by crows magpies parakeets & Starling in turn. then flew high north. At one point looked to land in the brooms but seemingly not bothered by the attention it was receiving, 2 Sparrowhawk, 2 Kestrel, 5 Swallow, 5+ Chiffchaff, 2 Blackcap, 5-6 Goldcrest, 20+ Meadow Pipit, 4 Pied Wagtail, 3 Grey Wagtail, 2 Pochard, 10+ Shoveler, 3 Teal, 12 Gadwall, 7 Common Gull, 2 Linnet, 4 Skylark (Nick Croft/Richard Rae)

  • Canary Wharf: Grey Seal (this is probably the one that is fed regularly by workers at Billingsgate fish market) in South Dock at 11:45, 20 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Grey Wagtail (Stuart Fisher)
  • Crossness: Guillemot (Mike Robinson, per BirdForum).
  • Ealing (W13): Chiffchaff in garden with tit flock (Bill Haines)

  • Northolt Aerodrome: 1 Great Grey Shrike still present along western perimeter fence Until 0745 for 2nd day. Access from Hillingdon trail & walk E towards control tower. (Franko J Maroevic, Andrew V Moon, Dominic Mitchell, Bob Watts).
  • Rainham Marshes RSPB: Little Stint on Avely Pools 1530 (BirdGuides)
  • St James's Park: Kingfisher at 14:20, 2 Grey Wagtail, 2 Chiffchaff and drake Ruddy Duck (Frank Nugent).
  • Walthamstow Reservoirs: (Lockwood) 1 Snipe, 1 Common Sandpiper; (East Warwick) 3 Great Black-backed Gull, 1 eclipse drake Pintail, c.100 Shoveler, 6 Wigeon, Lapwing, 2 Swallow E. (No.5) 1 Wigeon, Goldcrest; (No.4) Short-eared Owl (11:45) circled for 10-15 minutes, chased by Crows at one stage which in turn were attacked by a Peregrine; adult & juvenile Peregrine seen on different pylons; Meadow Pipit and Rock Pipit over; (No. 1) Cetti's Warbler singing (Paul Whiteman, Mike Messenger).

  • Hampstead Heath: 4 Common Buzzard together drifted SE from 13:10 & 1 over W at 15:05. Also 7 Shoveler, 9 Gadwall, 2 Linnet over S, 1 Grey Wagtail over NW and one at Highgate 1 Pond, c60 Meadow Pipit over, 3 Swallow W, Kingfisher at Sanctuary Pond (Frank Nugent).
  • London Wetland Centre: 3 Pintail, 2 Ruddy Duck, 8 Mandarin, 3 Hobby, 21 Snipe, 2 Rock Pipit, one on marsh, one north. 17 Meadow Pipit, 5 alba Wagtail mostly south, 8 Grey Wagtail south & dropping in, 4 Stonechat, Reed Warbler, 5 Sedge Warbler, 16 Chiffchaff, 5 migrant Jay NW/NE, 15 Swallow S, Clouded Yellow and 3 Red Admiral all migrating high SW. fem House Sparrow Barnes Village.(R.Kaye)
  • Middlesex Filter Beds: Nightjar roosting on branch of elderberry tree 09:55-10:40. From the pond walk towards the Hackney Marshes exit past a black bench. After another ~20-30 yards there is a large elder tree to the left. Look for the broken horizontal branch to the right about 12 ft above the ground & the bird is on that.   • Dartford Marshes: Marsh Harrier (Crayford side over landfill just before dusk persued by 2 crows), Yellowhammer (f) sewage farm area with wagtails and chaffinches, Peregrine, Stonechat (m), Reed Bunting, singing Cetti's Warbler, 2 Ringed Plover, 2 Kestrel, 10 Meadow Pipits (Michael Mac)
  • East India Dock Basin: 1 Kingfisher, 82 Teal - a marked increase, Cormorant Estonian-ringed bird again on the pier (John Archer).
  • EC2 St.Botolph's Church, Yellow-browed Warbler confirmed at 11.25am but not seen subsequently, plus Firecrest at 2.37pm images of the latter but not the former alas. (Ken Murray)

  • Alexandra Park: Wryneck still 1830 when flew to Cricket Scrub (APOG), 1:30 in the lone willow south perimeter of cricket pitch, then flew back towards the west clump of trees (Dawn Painter); Common Tern over boating lake 18:10 (P.Angus); 2 Hobbies over woods to north of Cricket Pitch 1600 (Francis Tusa).   • Pinner Park Farm: female Common Redstart with really bright orange flanks - (never seen that before & perhaps I should add that I double checked that this bird was not a first-winter male in transitional plumage - chats can appear in all sorts of plumages with a plethora of ambiguities & unexpected colourations - I have even found a Wheatear with a full 'black' rump!), first-winter Whinchat, 2 Little Owl, Common Buzzard, Whitethroat, 3 Chiffchaff, Swallow through, 4 Green Woodpecker, Great Spotted Woodpecker, 4 Stock Dove, 37 Jackdaw, 2 Jay, 3 Grey Heron (Jon Ridge).
